Time Warner Cable announces FOX channel changes

Time Warner Cable announced changes to their channel lineups to add new FOX affiliate KUQI FOX 38. KUQI will begin broadcasting FOX programming on February 4, and the cable changes will be effective on the same date.
Alice, Agua Dulce, Benavides, Ben Holt, Falfurrias, Green Acres, Orange Grove, Premont & San Diego
Weather Radar will move from Basic Service Channel 2 to Digital Channel 366.
KUQI FOX 38 will become the new FOX affiliate and will reside on channel 2.
KDF will become an independent television station and will remain on channel 13.
Banquete, Bishop, Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, Driscoll, Odem and Robstown
Weather Radar will move from Basic Service Channel 3 to Digital Channel 366.
KUQI FOX 38 will become the new FOX affiliate and will reside on channel 3.
KDF will become an independent television station and will remain on channel 13.
Beeville, Bee County, Lake City, Lakeside, Mathis, Refugio, The Lakes, Tynan and Woodsboro
Weather Radar will move from Basic Service Channel 18 to Digital Channel 366.
KUQI FOX 38 will become the new FOX affiliate and will reside on channel 18.
KDF will become an independent television station and will remain on channel 13.
George West & Freer
KUQI FOX 38 will become the new FOX affiliate and will reside on channel 17.
Hebbronville
KUQI FOX 38 will become the new FOX affiliate and will reside on channel 2.
Update: Grande Communications is also making changes.
TV Guide Network will move from channel 4 to channel 95.
QVC will move from channel 11 to channel 4.

Just a heads up to the thousands of other Tech361 readers, KUQI (as well as CNN) have the audio encoded incorrectly over Time Warner Cable. It only comes out of the left audio channel. If you are connected using the digial coaxial cable, stereo composite cables or HDMI, you will notice it. If you are just connecting to your TV over the standard coax cable, you won’t notice it, since it only passes mono sound. I’ve put a call into Time Warner, but unfortunately all I got was a call center rep, who was clueless. If anyone has any pull at Time Warner, please let them know, or let us know how to contact them. Thanks!

I just got off the phone with Directv for the last hour and a half trying to figure out a way to get a fox affiliate channel now that they have switched. Since KUQI doesn’t have a digital signal Directv says they can’t broadcast it, and since you receive other local channels they can’t give you an out of market fox affiliate channel, so until KUQI switches to digital Directv users are out of luck. If anyone knows of any fix to this I’d appreciate it.

Eric, cancel your Directv and switch to Dish or Grande. I don’t recommend switch to Time Warner since they can’t broadcast the FOX station with the sound mixed correctly. The best way to send a company a message is with your wallet.

KUQI is going the “retransmission” route rather than the “must carry” route, with all outlets… cable, satellite, etc. They are trying to make money from each and every subscriber of these outlets. If an outlet does not have them on air, the problem is with the “deal”. It is just that simple.
